A travel related article highlighting the beauties, sights, monuments, shops and taverns of Thessaloniki are featured in Australia's Sunday Mail newspaper. "Thessaloniki, as it was named after the sister of Alexander the Great, the second largest city of Greece, blessed with some of the most important architectural and archaeological treasures of Greece, is considered to be the country's cultural center" states the article.
"Built on the top of the Thermaikos Gulf, in the northern region of Macedonia, it is a city which can be walked easily. Most shops, bars, restaurants, tourist sights are close to the city center and the sea, while in Ano Poli there are abundant Roman monuments, historic buildings and amazing churches." The same article also highlights the islands of the Saronic Gulf and mentions among others: "Between Athens and the Peloponese, the islands Salamina, Aigina, Poros, Hydra, and Spetses comprise the Saronic Gulf islands. They are considered by Athenians as their own-small secret getaway paradises from the fast paced capital. Each island is unique, with its own style and character, abundant archaeological monument, beautiful beaches, charming seas side cities and easily reached from the capital in 15' to 90' minutes from Piraeus." The article also notes that further information can be obtained from the greek National Tourist Organization in Sydney. Set as favorite Email This Σχόλια
