Melbourne’s Herald Sun Sunday newspaper published an article in which the journalist described the archaeological site of Ancient Olympia as one with various vulnerable points during antiquity. According to the article, “the Olympic Games were never ideal and pure as we seem to perceive. The athletes would criticize one another, receive bribes and were egotistical…The winners that were crowned with olive branches were not amateurs, but would receive high honors and fees in their country. The article stressed that Ancient Olympia currently boasted a large amount of tourists. Special mention about the Archaeological Museum and the Phillippeio while providing a link to the Ministry of Tourist Development for further information.
