A conference aimed at the professional upgrading of Greek language instructors in Australia and a discussion on the problems being faced over the recent years is being organized by the Union of Modern Greek Instructors of Victoria. The conference’s opening, titled, “The Greek language in Australia” will take place on Wednesday, May 19th, while the works will take place on May 20-21 with the participation of 45 instructors and academics.
Radiology and Pediatrics Professor and Director of Nuclear Medicine at the Miller Medical School at the University of Miami, George Sfakianakis, will be named Honorary Professor of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki during a special event to be held on April 14th at the Aristotle University. For the third consecutive year, the Prefecture of Thessaloniki, in cooperation with the World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE) will honor this year, seven distinguished women of the Greek Diaspora. The event is an initiative of the Prefect of Thessaloniki, Panagiotis Psomiadis, which was “embraced” by SAE from the very beginning as a tribute to the women of the Greek Diaspora, on the occasion of the celebration of International Women’s Day.
Greek Alternate Foreign Minister Dimitris Droutsas met with Ecumenical Patriarch Vartholomeos at the Fanar on Wednesday whom he reassured that Greece and the Greek government are always by the side of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the difficult task that it is carrying out.

Τιμήθηκε ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος Αναστάσιος
Με το παράσημο «Σκεντέρμπεη» τιμήθηκε ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος Τιράνων και πάσης Αλβανίας Αναστάσιος και άλλοι τρεις πνευματικοί ηγέτες της Αλβανίας, από τον πρόεδρο της χώρας, Μπαμίρ Τόπι, «για την πολύτιμη συμβολή τους και τη δραστηριότητά τους στην ενδυνάμωση της πνευματικής πίστης και την περαιτέρω ενίσχυση και εμπλουτισμό της θρησκευτικής αρμονίας και συνύπαρξης του αλβανικού λαού».Παρουσία πολιτικών προσωπικοτήτων, ξένων διπλωματών, ο Αλβανός πρόεδρος εξήρε το ρόλο των τεσσάρων πνευματικών ηγετών και σημείωσε ότι "είναι υποχρέωση όλων μας να τροφοδοτήσουμε την αρμονία και τη συνύπαρξη". Εν τω μεταξύ με κατάνυξη και λαμπρότητα γιόρτασαν οι χριστιανοί σε όλη την Αλβανία την Ανάσταση του Χριστού Πολλοί ήταν οι Αλβανοί και οι Βορειοηπειρώτες που επέστρεψαν στα χωριά τους από την Ελλάδα, όπου ζουν και εργάζονται, για τις εορτές του Πάσχα, ωστόσο, σύμφωνα με στοιχεία από το τελωνείο Κακαβιάς, ήταν λιγότεροι από πέρυσι.
