Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew is scheduled to meet with Pope Benedict at the Vatican on March 6. The announcement was made yesterday by the pontifical council for Christian unity at the Vatican.

| “Greek-Turkish war” via Hollywood |

The production of a major Hollywood movie about the Kurds and the genocide of the Armenians and other Christians in Asia Minor has sparked angry reactions in Turkey. The film will depict the struggles of the Kurds for the creation of an independent state, and will also make extensive reference to the persecution they have suffered at the hands of the Turks.

The annual congress of the Federation of Cypriot Communities in Australia and New Zealand will be held in Sydney on the final weekend in January, organized by the Australian city's Cypriot community. The main topics of discussion will be education and young people, as well as the accumulation of material involving the Cypriot-Australian community, with the aim of setting up computerized archives.

The Photography Museum of Thessaloniki will exhibit photographs by Dimitris Soulas, who worked as a reporter in Munich, Germany during the 7-yr military dictatorship in Greece. The show, under the general title, "Hellenes of the Diaspora" will last from January 12 to Feb. 29. Soula's black and white photographs focus on immigrants, the homeless and students, who used to stage peace rallies.

Το φωτογραφικό οδοιπορικό του Ελβετού φωτογράφου Φρεντ Μπουασονά στο Αγιον Ορος παρουσιάζεται στο Ελληνικό Ίδρυμα Πολιτισμού (ΕΙΠ) στο Βερολίνο από τις 17 Ιανουαρίου έως τις 28 Μαρτίου 2008.
Ο Φρεντ Μπουασονά (1858-1944) σημάδεψε τη φωτογραφική τέχνη στην Ελλάδα του 20ού αιώνα.
