The parents of Greek journalist Iason Athanasiadis, arrested in Iran, have appealed for his release. Polymnia and Georgios Athanasiadis said the Greek foreign ministry has been making efforts to secure his release, for which we are deeply grateful.

Book presentation in Sao Paolo

The book by Vasiliki Konstantinidou, "Os guardioes das lembrancas-the guardians of memories" devoted to the history of Greek culture in BrAZIL was presented in Sao Paolo on June 8TH. The presentation was attended by members of the omogeneia of Brazil who came in full force. Also in attendance was the Archbishop of Buenos Aires and South America, Tarasios, the Consul General of Greece in Sao Paolo, E. Paizis-Paradellis and representatives of other countries. The book which was published with the support of the Council for Hellenes Abroad (SAE) Central and South America, is a bilingual edition in Greek and Portuguese, with biographical information, personal stories and adventures of Greek migrants who arrived in Brazil and sheds light on their course in their new found land and the founding of the local Greek communities.
