World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE) Regional Coordinator for the USA Ted Spyropoulos has expressed his support in an open letter, for the candidacy of Illinois Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias for the US Senate.
A resolution on Cyprus was passed at a conference of the Australian Labour Party, which has been declared satisfactory by the Federation of Cypriot Communities in Australia and New Zealand.
The 3rd Dodecanese of the Diaspora conference was held recently in the Archangel Municipality of Rhodes. Diaspora organisations participated in the conference, which was also attended by local political and state authorities.

The Hellenic cultural festival, “Odyssey”, organised by the Greek-Orthodox Community of South Australia, will open this year with the revival of the Greek Film Festival, starting on October 1. It will close on October 31, with a symphony orchestra concert.

CEH contacts in Washington

The leadership of the Coordinated Effort of Hellenes (CEH) held important contacts in Washington with high level Obama administration officials from the US Senate and House of Representatives, who are affiliated with the Cyprus dispute. The CEH members met with among others, Deputy Secretary of State, James Steinberg, the leader of the House of Representative’s Foreign Affairs Committee, Howard Berman, the leader of the International Relations committee, John Kerry the Senate’s Euroepan Affairs subcommittee, Jeanne Shaheen and Senator, Bob Menendez, a key supporter of Cyprus in the Senate’s International Relations Committee and Advisor to Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton. The CEH Board of Directors also participated in a briefing event of the Helsinki American Committee titled: “Cyprus: Religious and Cultural heritage in Danger”.
