The news of the death of Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, Christodoulos, has grieved Greeks living overseas and abroad. In New York, the Archbishop of America, Dimitrios, held a special service at the Archdiocese's chapel, and departed today for Athens to attend the funeral scheduled for Thursday. Archbishop Dimitrios said the Church of Greece had lost an "exceptional and valuable" prelate. Condolence books have been opened at the Greek Embassy in Washington and at local Greek consulates throughout the US. Special services are also being held at Greek Orthodox churches across Canada, while in Sydney, Australia, a service will be held tomorrow at the Aghios Spyridon church.
