Fordham University will present an honorary degree to His All Holiness Bartholomew, Archbishop of Constantinople, New Rome and Ecumenical Patriarch, in a ceremony today, October 27. The Ecumenical Patriarch will receive a doctorate of laws, honoris causa, at a ceremony to be held at the University Church on Fordham’s Rose Hill campus.

The Niarchos Public Benefit Foundation has undertaken the financing of the construction of the Church Museum and Ambry of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, it was announced yesterday, when Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria signed the acceptance of the Foundation's donation.

Expatriate Greek pensioners (IKA-ETAM) will be eligible to receive the sum of 500 or 300 euros, a one-off emergency allowance decided by the Greek Employment ministry in May 2009. However, they must notify the service about the total sum of their pension.

Greek-origin Australian film director George Miller has announced that pre-production work will start soon on the latest Mad Max film, which is to be produced in New South Wales, Australia. Thirty years after the release of the original Mad Max, Miller is preparing to head out west for “Fury Road” - the fourth instalment of the popular franchise – which will begin filming in August 2010.

“I am convinced that with your support and if we join forces, we can raise the prestige of our community and look forward optimistically to the future”, said the president of the Cypriot community, Stelios Angelodimou, during an annual ball held at Ultima Receptions in Melbourne.
