For the last twelve years, every summer, the museums in Trieste remain open in the evening. A circle of parallel cultural events is also in the centre of interest.
This year, there will be a tribute to Greece – all events will take
place in the Civil Museum of Sartorio (Civico Museo Sartorio). The
program includes performances by Greek musical ensembles and Shadow
theatre that will add a special touch in Trieste’s august nights at the
Santorio Park. The Museum, renovated a year ago, houses the
Rusconi-Opuich collection, the collection of drawings of Gianbattista
Tiepolo, the collection of paintings of Arturo Fittke, the triptych of
Santa Chiara “il Memoriale Giorgio Constantinides” and the paintings of
the Venetian School of the exhibition “Istria”. The Hellenic Foundation
for Culture and the municipal authorities are responsible for the
selection of the artists. The program of events opens on August 5 with the musical and theatrical performance Canto Greco … canto greco by Suzana and Eleni Vouyioukli. Followed by: Savinna Yiannatou and the group Primavera En Salonico with song from the Mediterranean (6/8), Athos Dannellis on a puppet show (12/8), Stefanos Nassos and his trio on a music concert with works by Greek composers of the Diaspora (13/8), “the Greek Byzantine Choir” of Lykourgos Aggelopoulos (19/8), an evening of poetry and music devoted to the poet Odysseas Elytis (20/8), a concert with the group Halkina Pneusta Kozanis (Copper wind instruments of Kozani) on 26/8 and a concert with Aliki Kagialoglou interpreting Manos Xatzidakis’ songs (27/8).
