Special services are being held in Australia for the repose of Archbishop Christodoulos’ soul.
A service was held yesterday morning at the Saint Spyridon church in
Sydney, on the sidelines of the 10th Assembly of the Greek Orthodox
Archdiocese of Australia. Meanwhile, the newly elected president of Melbourne’s Greek Orthodox Community, Vassilis Papastergiadis, has sent a letter – on behalf of the community’s board – to the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, stressing that “the archbishop’s death did not touch only Greeks living in their homeland, but Greeks all over the world, especially in Melbourne, whose grief we have the honour to express”. The Greek Orthodox Community of South Australia has announced that the community is participating in the deep mourning and a service was held yesterday at the Adelaide cathedral.
