According to media reports, Interior Minister Prokopis Pavlopoulos is attempting to “tempt” the opposition to approve a draft bill concerning the expatriate Greek vote, which he is planning to re-table in parliament.
Yet another expatriate Greek has undertaken an important position in the US state of Illinois. Mariana Spyropoulos has been appointed to the board of the Metropolitan Region Commission which oversees the quality of Chicago’s water, following a decision by state governor Pat Quinn.
Twenty-one young expatriate Greeks from the United States and Germany have returned to their homes with the best impressions of Greece, after participating in a program of Greek Language and Culture for Epirot children abroad.
The 4th Anthology of Expatriate Greek Writers from Five Continents, funded by the Alexander Onassis Public Benefit Foundation has been published. It contains works by 42 Greek authors from all over the world, including numerous writers from the United States.
A branch of the Eleftherios Venizelos National Foundation for Research-Study will operate shortly in Montreal, Canada, according to an announcement by the foundation’s general manager, Nikolaos Papadakis during a visit to the headquarters in Hania by a delegation of the Cretan Association from Montreal.

Παιδιά ομογενών στη Ροδόπη
Παιδιά ομογενών από την Αγχίαλο της Βουλγαρίας, που φιλοξενούνται στη Ροδόπη από τον Πολιτιστικό Σύλλογο Αιγείρου, θα επισκεφθούν την Παρασκευή τον Πρόεδρο της Νομαρχιακής Αυτοδιοίκησης Ροδόπης Έβρου και τον Νομάρχη Ροδόπης στην Κομοτηνή. Οι δύο φορείς στηρίζουν τη φιλοξενία των ομογενών μαζί με τον Δήμο Αιγείρου. Τα παιδιά κατά την παραμονή τους στην περιοχή θα ξεναγηθούν και θα μάθουν την ιστορία της, ενώ θα παρουσιάσουν χορούς της Αγχιάλου στην Αίγειρο στα πλαίσια των πολιτιστικών εκδηλώσεων που διοργανώνονται στον οικισμό.
