A three-page article devoted
to the city of Athens is featured in Life and Leisure, Australia’s
largest financial newspaper, The Australian Financial Review.
Ambassador David Ritchie, the new Australian special envoy for the Cyprus issue will visit Athens on September 8th. According to announcement by the Australian Embassy in Athens, Mr. Ritchie will continue the work of Honorable Jim Short, the previous special envoy during the period 2000-2007.
The 4th World Conference of Expatriates from Halkidiki begins on Friday, September 12th in Ouranoupolis, Halkidiki, which will be attended by expatriates from the region from every corner of the globe.
New York Life Insurance Company
announced an outreach program to locate and compensate heirs of approximately
1,000 life insurance policies issued to Greeks in the Ottoman Empire
prior to 1915. As part of the Greek Life Insurance Policy Program, New
York Life will publish notices in national and international newspapers
about the claims review process so that heirs can submit claims relating
to these policies.
Thessaloniki prefect, Panayiotis Psomiades will host a reception for 350 omogenia college students of the Greek language this evening at the Prefectures gardens.

Στον Ρόντρικ Μπίτον για τη λογοτεχνική μετάφρασή του στο έργο «Levant Journal» by George Seferis απονέμεται το αντίστοιχο Βραβείο του Ελληνικού Ιδρύματος Πολιτισμού.
