A large concert within the context of the international Kypria 2007 festival was given by composer Vassos Argyridis in Moscow, on the invitation of the city’s New Opera.
Participating
in the event were the Moscow 21st Century symphony orchestra, singer
Nena Venetsanou, who performed four songs from Odysseas Elytis’
“Orientations”, and Vassos Argyridis on piano. The audience, who filled
the hospitable New Opera in the Russian capital’s centre, repeatedly
accompanied the orchestra with rhythmic clapping and loudly applauded
Venetsanou, whose enchanting voice warmed up freezing Moscow. The
orchestra was conducted by Pavel Ofsianikof, who was director of the
Kremlin presidential orchestra for 24 years.
