Dr. Olga Sarantopoulos, Secretary of the World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE) has visited the historic villages of Fikardou and Vavatsinia in Cyprus.
Attendants of the 16th Worldwide Conference of Oversea Cypriots, bid farewell to the Director of the Cyprus foreign ministry Division of Overseas and Repatriated Cypriots Ambassador Charalambos Ioannidis, who has taken up this position after a long and dedicated course of support towards the Diaspora, by means of a modest event.
The Council for Hellenes Abroad, SAE Oceania, announced during a special event the organization of the Pan-Hellenic Sports and Cultural Games of Oceania, to be held in November in Melbourne.
The 2nd consecutive open gathering of the omogeneia was organized by SAE Oceania. Last week’s meeting took place in Melbourne, followed by Sydney and will include more meetings in other cities throughout September.
The Federation of Greek Orthodox communities of Australia announced that it had handed over to the relevant authorities and bodies the sum of $50, 863 which had been collected during various drives and fund raisers following initiatives of the Federation and its community-members, for the assistance of victims of the February 7th catastrophic fires in Victoria State.

Director of Cyprus Foreign Ministry, Ch. Ioannides honored

Attendants of the 16th Worldwide Conference of Oversea Cypriots, bid farewell to the Director of the Cyprus foreign ministry Division of Overseas and Repatriated Cypriots Ambassador Charalambos Ioannidis, who has taken up this position after a long and dedicated course of support towards the Diaspora, by means of a modest event. The leaders of Diaspora praised Mr. Ioannidis for his personality and precious support which was offered towards the Diaspora organizations (POMAK, PSEKA and SAE). The President of SAE, Mr. Stefanos Tamvakis from the podium of the Conference, thanked Mr. Ioannides, the Cypriot Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Cypriot Government for their excellent cooperation. Mr. Tamvakis stated that he wishes to continue his cooperation with Mr. Ioannidis, on the basis of their friendship and regardless of his position. The speeches made by the Presidents of POMAK and PSEKA, Mr. Harry Sophokleides and Mr. Phillip Christopher, were on the same wavelength, as well as the speeches made by other Presidents of Organisations of the Diaspora, from all over the world, by thanking him for the excellent organization of the 16th Worldwide Conference of Oversea Cypriots (POMAK – PSEKA) and for the Summit of the NEPOMAK Board. Ambassador Ioannidis thanked the Agency and the people who entrusted him with the prominent position of Director of the Cyprus foreign ministry Division of Overseas and Repatriated Cypriots Lastly, the Ambassador Mr. Ioannides, thanked the new Director, Mr. Antonis Toumazis and his remarkable colleagues and coworkers and all the staff which contributed to the organization of the Conference. arantopoulos meets with Cypriot refugees
