The leadership of the Greek-American community – and particularly officials who are involved with promoting Greek foreign policy issues in Washington – have expressed satisfaction about the choice of Joe Biden as the running mate for the Democratic Party’s US presidential candidate Barack Obama. They consider that the selection of Biden is the best that Greece and Cyprus could hope for, as – during his 35 years in the Senate – he has systematically adopted philhellene positions and has clear views on what needs to be done in the Cyprus issue and the FYROM name dispute.From the outset, Biden has been in the front line of Cyprus supporters, backing Greek-Americans’ stance on the embargo.
