Greek Communist Party General Secretary Aleka Papariga is due to inform Greeks living in Düsseldorf about the upcoming European Parliament elections tomorrow, in an event organised by the Parish Centre of the Saint Andrews church at 7pm.
The 8th annual "Mathitiada" will be held in the village of Proti, the birthplace of Konstantinos Karamanlis in the Serres Prefecture, on May 8-13 with the participation of 1,200 high school students from all prefectures in Greece and from 42 Greek expatriate schools.

Αναζητείται νέο κτήριο για τον πολιτισμό στην Αστόρια
Ένα νέο σπίτι θα αναζητήσει μετά από 35 χρόνια το ελληνικό πολιτιστικό κέντρο στην Αστόρια.Το κτήριο που στεγάζει το Eλληνικό Πολιτιστικό Κέντρο από το 1974 πρόκειται να γκρεμιστεί για να γίνει συγκρότημα κατοικιών και η ελληνική κοινότητα προσπαθεί να συγκεντρώσει χρήματα ώστε να βρεθεί ένα νέο κτίριο από τις αρχές του 2010.
«Θέλουμε τα παιδιά μας να έχουν ένα μέρος όπου θα μαθαίνουν για τον πολιτισμό τους" δηλώνει στην εφημερίδα nydailynews η κυρία Ανίτα Τουμαρα ενεργό μέλος του Πολιτιστικού ΄κέντρου στα 35 χρόνια της λειτουργίας του.«Είναι το τέλος του δρόμου για αυτό το κτήριο , είναι καιρός να βρεθεί ένας μεγαλύτερος χώρος.»
Για το σκοπό αυτό η ελληνική κοινότητα διοργανώνει έρανο την Παρασκευή στο Σταθάκειο Κέντρο στην Αστόρια.
