In his eulogy, at the funeral of Archbishop Christodoulos, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew referred to the life and work of the late head of the Greek Church.
His death, said the Patriarch, caused grief and emotion, adding that he
waged a courageous battle with his illness, with faith and dignity,
that moved all Greeks. Patriarch Bartholomew also referred to
Christodoulos’ devotion and zeal in relation to the Church of Greece. The Constantinople-based patriarch made special note of the Patriarchate’s appreciation of the late Archbishop, thus circumnavigating the tense relations between them in spring 2004. Commenting on that period, Metropolitan Anthimos of Thessaloniki said it was a brief time of bitterness, which has since been completely forgotten. Set as favorite Email This Σχόλια
