Deputy FM Th. Kassimis continues contacts in Germany |

Issues concerning the Greek community in the SAE Europe Region were discussed in the meeting between Regional Coordinator Georgios Amarantidis and Deputy Foreign Minister Theodoros Kassimis. In the meeting held today at the SAE Europe Region offices in Frankfurt, Amarantidis briefed the deputy minister on the positive developments recorded in a number of issues as regards SAE Europe region such as: the imminent Regional Coordinating Council meeting the Pre-convention meetings and the Pan-European Convention on Greek-speaking Education in Europe actions undertaken with the purpose of organizing the youth within the framework of SAE the excellent cooperation with Greek community organizations The meeting, which was held within the framework of Kassimis’ visit to Germany, reaffirmed the good cooperation level shared by the deputy minister responsible for Greeks abroad and the SAE Europe Region. The meeting attended General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad General Director Ioannis Kyparissidis, Consul General in Frankfurt Stavroula Frankoyanni, deputy minister advisers and members of the SAE Europe Regional Coordinating Council. In addition, Mr. Kassimis held meetings with Eberhard Sinner, Minister of State for European Affairs and Regional Relations for the Bavarian government, Dr. Otmar Bernhard, Environment, Public Health and Consumer Protection minister, German MEP Reinhold Bocklet and Munich Mayor Christian Ude. In Frankfurt, he held talks with the Hessen government's Minister for Federal and European Affairs Volker Hoff and was officially received by Frankfurt City Parliament Chairman Karlheinz Bührmann. Kassimis underlined Greece's decision to work for a mutually acceptable name for FYROM. The country's further progress toward the EU and Euro-Atlantic structures would "not make sense" in the absence of such a solution, he said. Greece's chief concern regarding Kosovo was to ensure stability and security in the western Balkans, said Mr. Kassimis adding that the decisions that Athens will take in the light of latest developments will be based on Greek interests. Finally, Mr. Kassimis also gave an interview to Deutsche Welle Greek division in Bonn Germany, where he outlined his various contacts in Germany and spoke about Greece’s positions in the Balkans.
