An exhibit on Maria Callas debuts on March 29th at the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Meligala Messinia. The exhibit by the Hellenic Parliament entitled “Maria Callas, 30 years later-a photographic retrospective” is materialized with the cooperation with the Prefectural Administration of Messinia and the Municipality of Meligala. Meligalas is the birthplace of George Kalogeropoulos, Calla’s father and where the Kalogeropoulos family home is located that the municipality aims to restore. The exhibit, aims through photographs, to highlight the artistic personality of Maria Callas and to also highlight the Greek and international period of the artist’s life. The photographic exhibit is enriched with audio-visual material (DVD with excerpts of musical performances and scenes from the life of Callas), as well as works of contemporary sculpture based on the artist. The photographic material originates from the archives of La Scala Theatre, ELIA, the Maria Callas Museum of the City of Athens and from private collections.
