The Ecumenical Hellenism Program is starting a historic information campaign on a global level for the return of the Parthenon Marbles to Greece.
As part of the drive, the book, “Greek Treasures in the World” – which
has been translated into eight languages: English, Italian, Russian,
French, German, Spanish, Arabic and Chinese – will be distributed to
European Union government representatives in Brussels, to other
governments, the mass media, and to libraries. The publication was
written by the director of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities, Xenia
Arapoyanni, with forewords by Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis, main
opposition Pasok leader George Papandreou, and Foreign Minister Dora
Bakoyanni. The campaign begins on Monday, March 31, with a festive ceremony at the Athinaida centre in Athens, featuring a screening of the program’s progress in various regions. There will also be a tribute to two late prominent prelates, the Archbishop of America, Iakovos, and the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, Christodoulos. Set as favorite Email This Σχόλια
