Greek Ambassador to Washington Alexandros Mallias honored Greek-American US Congressmen John Sarbanes, Gus Bilirakis and Zachary Space with an especially made copy of resolution 356 (calling FYROM to end the "hostile actions and propaganda" against Greece) in recognition of their contribution to its adoption by the US House of Representatives.
Ambassador Mallias underlined that the resolution was signed by one-fourth of the members of the US House of Representatives contributing to the strengthening of the Greek positions in view of the recent NATO Summit in Bucharest. The Greek ambassador expressed deep appreciation for their contribution to the promotion of the Greek-US relations and their consistent support to issues of Greek interest. Thanking him for his symbolic gesture, the three US Congressmen underlined the decisive role of the well-documented information they received from the Greek Embassy on the issue allowing them to brief their colleagues on the Skopje government's provocative and irredentist actions against Greece and the correctness of the Greek positions as well as on the efforts for a mutually acceptable solution to the FYROM name issue.
