The talented director and member of the Adelaide Greek Orthodox Community, Antonis Maras – son of the former EOKNA president, Theofanis Maras – won the coveted Australian Film Institute Award for the best short-length movie, “Spike Up”.
Last year, the
25-year-old director won a prize at the international short film
festival, Flickerfest, in Sydney, with the controversial film “Azadi”,
which he co-wrote, produced and directed. In statements afterwards, the
president of the community, Vassilis Elovaris, congratulated Maras and
his family and wished him success in his future endeavours, adding that
the Greek-Australian community was rich in upcoming talent, which would
flourish in the near future
