Greek-Australian triplets start school

Melbourne – The Greek-Australian triplets belonging to the Hatzis family – Chrysovalantis, Constantine and George – are beginning school in Melbourne, together with another 44,100 children. For their parents, the day will be a special one. Their mother, Anastasia Hatzis, was five months pregnant with the triplets when her doctor informed her that she may not be able to give birth to all her babies alive.
Chrysovalantis and George suffered from a disorder which allowed the latter a great deal of blood, while depriving the former. However, following a ground-breaking operation, the mother was able to give birth to three healthy infants. The operation – the first of its kind in Australia – was performed on the embryos in the mother’s womb
