A number of important works will be auctioned at a new Greek Sale by Sotheby’s on April 17 in London. Apart from the unprecedented total of 10 works by Constantine Volanakis and seven works by George Iakovidis, there will be other major works by Theofilos, Theodros Rallis, Nikos Hatzikyriakos-Gikas and Constantine Parthenis. Theofilos will be represented at the upcoming auction by two rare and significant works: “The Death of Markos Botsaris”, valued at 300,000 euros, and “Karaiskakis in the Battle of Faliro”. Of the four works by Theodore Rallis, one of the most important is “Turkish Woman Smoking”, which is expected to be sold for around 200,000 euros. The masterpiece by Gikas is one of eight works by the artist, which has been estimated to attract offers up to 220,000 euros.
