Merchant Marine and Island Policy Minister George Voulgarakis is currently in London, following an invitation from the president of the Greek Shipping Cooperation Committee, Epaminondas Embiricos, to a joint meeting of the committee with the Union of Greek Shipowners. In his speech to the meeting today, Voulgarakis will refer to the Greek shipping industry’s success and to the factors that shaped its structure and growth, as well as to the current international developments impacting maritime affairs at international forums. He will also expand on the efforts to further highlight Piraeus as a globally prestigious shipping centre, from when multiple benefits are expected to emerge for the domestic economy.
