Deputy Foreign Minister, Theodore Kassimis is continuing his visit to Germany mainly with a view to briefing politicians, Greek community representatives and other public figures in Germany on the issue of FYROM and general developments in the Balkans. Munich and Frankfurt were the first stops of Mr. Kassimis’ tour. Mr. Kassimis met in Munich with the Head of the Bavarian State Chancellery, Mr. Eberhard Sinner, the State Minister of Environment, Health and Consumer Protection, Dr. Otmar Bernhard, the member of the Bavarian State Parliament and member of the European People’s Party Bureau, Mr. Reinhold Bocklet, and the Mayor of Munich, Mr. Christian Ude. In Frankfurt, Mr. Kassimis had talks with Hesse’s State Minister for European Affairs, Mr. Volker Hoff, and he was officially received by the President of Frankfurt’s State Parliament, Mr. Karl-Heinz Burmann. The main topics discussed at these meetings were the Skopje name issue and the Kosovo issue. With regard to the name issue, Mr. Kassimis detailed Greece’s positions, reiterating the Greek government’s firm decision to work towards a mutually acceptable name, without which there cannot be further progress on Skopje’s Euro-Atlantic and European course. With regard to the Kosovo issue, he mentioned that our country’s main concern is to ensure stability and security in the region of the Western Balkans, whilst he stressed that the decisions that Greece has to take in view of the new state-of-affairs will be taken at a later stage and always based on our country’s interests. Mr. Kassimis met with the Boards of the Greek communities of Bavaria and Hesse, but also with Greek-origin politicians, who have been elected to public posts in these states. The next stop of Mr. Kassimis’ tour of Germany is Dusseldorf. Set as favorite Email This Σχόλια
