Greece thanked members of the US Congress for their firm support of Greece and resolution 356 concerning the FYROM name issue, via Greek Ambassador, Alexandros Mallias, who visited Capitol Hill where he met with three members of the US Congress of Greek descent. During his visit to the Hill, Ambassador Mallias had contacts with senators, Zack Space (Democrat: Ohio) John Sarbanes (Democart: Maryland) and Gus Bilirakis (Republican: Florida). The US Congress members co-signed the House of Representatives' Resolution 356 condemning "hostile propaganda" by FYROM against Greece and calling on Skopje to find a mutually acceptable solution with Athens on the FYROM name issue. Among the 115 co-signatories were: Massachusetts Democratic Party Senator, Niki Tsongas, widow of Senator and former US presidential candidate, Paul Tsongas, Nevada Democratic Party Senator, Shelley Berkley, who is of Greek descent, and the co-president of Congresses Committee on the promotion of Greek affairs, Senator Carolyn Maloney, of New York.
