Jules Dassin’s “Naked City” is one of 25 films chosen to be added to the archives of the US Congress library, in order to be preserved for future generations.
Each year, 25
movies are selected as part of the American cultural heritage, for
their cultural, historic and aesthetic value. The Chief Librarian,
James Billington, said that half of the films made before 1950, as well
as 90 percent of those films prior to 1920, have been lost forever. “Naked City”, which was made in 1948, is a classic police movie, which depicts the solving of a crime by a police chief and his assistant.
